PGA Championship Up For Grabs

The best in the world go into an event expecting to win. That’s what they do. Tiger Woods obviously is no exception. With new caddy in tow, he went back to a familiar scene at the Firestone Country Club where he had left victorious 7 times. No cigar.

What could he possibly be feeling after finishing 18 shots from the winner Adam Scott? In addition, he was 18 shots away from his long time caddy, Steve Williams, who carried Scott's bag to a commanding victory. Williams had carried Tiger’s bag for over a decade with amazing success. After the round, Steve Williams exclaimed “It was the most enjoyable victory of his career”. Ouch!

Tiger could obviously rationalize that this was a tune up tournament to get the rust off before the PGA Championship. If he falters there, Tiger needs to definitely quit looking outside and starting looking inside. Tiger’s not having a lot of fun.

On another note, the young guns were having fun at Firestone. Rory McIlroy, Ryo Ishikawa, Ricky Fowler and Jason Day will be chomping at the bit to put their name on the Wanamaker Trophy this weekend. It’s amazing to me at 33 years old, Luke Donald is now being looked at as the old guy.
